A new brand identity developed by Corporate Edge has been launched for Scotland’s leading visitor attraction, Edinburgh Castle. The distinctive new brand, featuring a logo of a mighty lion on a rock, has been created as part of Historic Scotland’s strategy to further enhance Edinburgh Castle’s status as a world-class visitor attraction. It is intended to convey its significance in history and character, as well as its importance as a national icon and Scottish cultural resource.

The creation of the Edinburgh Castle brand complements a £2.7 million project underway to further improve visitor services and experience at the attraction which each year receives around 1.2 million visitors from the UK and overseas.

Rebecca Hamilton, Historic Scotland Marketing and Media Manager, said: “Our market research identified the need for a stronger visual identity to define and emphasise everything that Edinburgh Castle, as Scotland’s most popular heritage attraction, represents and offers visitors. The new branding will provide a clearer more memorable visual symbol to inspire visitors, as well as a central theme and common reference point for the wide range of experiences at the castle and interpretation of its history. We are delighted with it as it really embodies the character of the castle and all that it stands for.”
