Stephen Bates joined Corporate Edge this week as Head of Sales and Marketing. Reporting to the managing partners and working closely with Chairman Chris Wood, Stephen has responsibility for raising the profile of the company, increasing opportunities with new clients, and developing the way opportunities are managed and won.

Stephen joins Corporate Edge from the Engage Group where he spent four years working with the senior partners to transform the agency from a design and print company of 27 people into one of the UK’s leading communications consultancies and a team of 120.

“I’m delighted to be given this opportunity to work at Corporate Edge. The agency’s inter­national client base and world-class portfolio, together with its heavyweight brand expertise and unpretentious attitude, provide a compelling offer. I’m used to building up this kind of offer from scratch, so to be given it on a plate as soon as I start is fantastic.

Following the development and launch of our new website, I aim to maximise account development opportunities, and leverage the agency’s network of contacts. Later in the year I will be running more targeted campaigns to increase the number of opportunities we receive from organisations we have not previously had contact with.

Traditionally, Corporate Edge has relied on existing contacts and referrals for new business. This is great for security and stability but our ambitious growth plan requires a more proactive business development strategy.”
